Pakistan is a country having a number of cultures in it. Pakistan cultural dressing depends on the region and the people form the different places. Pakistan have many cultures but we will discuss some major cultures and the dresses of those cultures.


Life style basically shows the living standard of people.All the societies of Pakistan have many cultural dresses.They dress up themselves according to their culture and heritage and the variety of this dressing makes them unique from others.Thus cultural effect can be seem in their life styles.

Sindhi Cultural Dressing:

Sindhi culture is one of the most important culture of Pakistan. There cultural dressing make them unique from others.This culture is one of the most colorful cultures of Pakistan.



The people of Sindh wear Sindhi dresses which are loose Kameez and the Shalwar and love to eat Sindhi food.
Sindhi people are very initiative to work and their handicrafts have a unique and a different style.Sindhi culture can be seen in sindhi tablos and shows.
People of Sindh love to wear Sindhi Toppi, that is the most eminent feature of Sindh culture.

Punjabi Cultural Dressing :

Punjab is also the province of Pakistan; this land is considered as the land of five rivers. Punjabi culture is the culture of Punjabi people that has been the richest and the oldest culture in the world’s history.
Punjabi culture is one of the versatile cultures in Pakistan. Punjabi Culture itself has many subcultures.Punjabi used to wear simple Shalwar Qameez.In Punjabi culture Ghagra is also one of the important cultural dresses.The Punjabi Ghagra was the traditional apparel for women before the advent of the Punjabi suit.



    Another style of the Punjabi suit is the use of the salwar which hails from the Pothohar region of Punjab, Pakistan and is known as the Pothohari salwar. A Phulkari kurta is embroidered using the Phulkari embroidery of the Punjab region.
   The Multani shalwar, also known as the 'ghaire wali' or 'Saraiki ghaire wali' shalwar as it is very wide around the waist, originates from the Multan area of the Punjab region.


Balochi Cultural Dressing :

One of the major provinces of Pakistan is Balochistan and it covers the largest area in Pakistan. In Balochistan cultural landscape shows different cultural groups. In Balochistan there are three main families named as Pashtoon, Baloch and Brahvi.
The men's shalwar kameez consists of a very baggy shalwar which uses large lengths of cloth. The kameez is also loose, which traditionally is long with long sleeves. The Balochi shalwar kameez is similar to the styles worn in Afghanistan. The present Balochi shalwar kameez replaced the earlier version which consisted of a robe to the ankles and a shalwar using cloth of up to 40 yards.

The female Balochi suit consists of the head scarf, long dress and a shalwar. Balochi women wear loose dresses which are embroidered in local designs which include Balochi silk-thread chain-stitch embroidery. Balochi embroidery alone has 118 different basic designs.







Gilgit Baltistan Cultural Dressing :


The cultural heritage of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan is rich, beautiful and unique and it manifests in local traditions, music and local dress. The dress plays a central role in identity of a person. Traditional clothing of the region is influenced by local culture, geography and weather. The traditional cap of Gilgit Baltistan has played a major role to define the identity of people of Gilgit Baltistan. The cap has different names in the major local languages. In Shina and Khowar languages the cap is called Khoi ,in brushaski it is called Phartsun or Pharsen and in Wakhi it is called Sekeed. The design of cap is slightly different in Baltistan and it is called Nating in Balti.
Tradtional cap is soft round toped woolen hat. It is made by local artisan and is available in various colors. White caps are most popular in the region and considered as a part of formal local dress. In many areas people specially the older generation still wear their traditional cap all the time with pride. They consider it a sign of honor.
The most striking feature of the cap is the peacock plume and the feather stuck in front or on the side of the cap. It gives a very elegant look to the cap. It is considered a part of formal dress cap and used in groom's dress.
In many parts of Gilgit Baltistan a small fresh flower is stuck in front and side of the the cap. Flower is a symbol of freshness, fragrance and livelihood.
